Your Spiritual Desires Will Be Met.
Do you desire to hear from God? Hear Him speak?
Or desire just to know you are headed in the right direction? Did you know that God has placed within you those spiritual desires? You are meant to need Him. HIs Word is filled with direction, guidelines, processes and systems to guide a believer through life. Guide you and direct you.
Your spiritual desires will be met when you seek Him, pray, go towards Him with your thoughts, your spirit and your life.
Spiritual Desires
Proverbs 10:24 “The desire of the righteous shall be granted.”
Heart’s Desire
Psalm 21:2 “You have given Him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips.”
Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
Psalm 145:19 “He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him. He also will hear their cry and save them.”

Desires and Plans
Psalm 20:4 “May He grant you according to your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans.”
Your hearts desires and spiritual desires are linked together. He created you and He knows that what your hearts desire is. He made you with your characteristics and interests.
Different Kids and Different Plans
I remember early on our middle son loved putting things together. Hooking things together, taking trains apart, putting wheels on bicycles, and attaching cables to tv’s, stereos, then later computers. It was all about the process in a technical sort of way. He is now a pastor and brilliant with computers and creating online commercials and music videos.
Our daughter was completely different. Her hearts desire was to put on makeup, wear makeup, buy makeup. At 12! She also had a gift at applying it on other people. This was something she did in college to make extra money. Her gift, led her to getting trained, educated and enhancing her gift. And…..buying the makeup, applying the makeup and then getting paid because she was so good at it. She is now a professional wedding makeup artist.
After college, getting a sports degree, she applied to beauty school and is in her ‘hearts desire’ as a professional. And serving the Lord, loving the Lord, raising her little ones to love Jesus. It all fits together.
When our daughter was little, my father Dick Mills often gave her a word and told her that God smiled when He looked at her. That melts my heart to this day. God knew who she was and what she would become as a little one.
He knows you and knows what He put deep within you.
An important thing to note is that God may gift you with talents and areas of extreme abilities, but it is up to you to increase your talent, skills and abilities by getting education, training and being mentored.
A gifted athlete steps onto the field and seems to throw the ball into the receivers hands. But without education, coaching, training, grueling practices, that athlete won’t become the trained athlete he could be in his life. Those are things he or she need to seek after.
God has given each person unique gifts, talents and abilities.
God creates each of us in a unique way and spiritually you are a unique design.
I remember my father Dick Mills was a very unique individual. He was gifted in ministry. Talented and could play dozens of different kinds of instruments. He played football as a young man at Life Bible College. He was musically talented, and was good at playing all the instruments too.
He had a gift of memorizing scriptures and had a photographic memory, yet he was disastrous when driving because he had a hard time not being distracted.
Incredible at memorizing scriptures, and yet in the natural, he had challenges driving while talking and telling funny stories! Both sides were him.
Funny Side Story
He knew where thousands of scriptures were but he couldn’t keep track of those car keys. He couldn’t seem to keep track of common sense, mundane items. And he routinely lost those things all over the world in airports, churches and the hotels he stayed at.
My mother Betty Mills, fussed at him for as long as I could remember that he could memorize thousands of scriptures but couldn’t remember where he set the car keys down! It was continuous.
My father’s desire though was to live for Jesus, love my mom and preach. Those were his top 3. And the good news was he lived his life loving Jesus, my mom and preaching.
This is not a comprehensive study on spiritual desires, however these scriptures below I want to share with you that my father compiled in a word study will show you God’s thinking, God’s Word and promises regarding the desires we have and how they will be met as we pursue God.
Spiritual Desire Scriptures
2 Chronicles 15:15 “They had sworn with all their heart and sought Him with their whole desire and He was found by them. The Lord gave them rest all around.”
Psalm 34:12 “Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see God? Keep your tongue from evil and you lips from speaking deceit.”
Galatians 5:26 “Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Job 31:35 “My desire is that the Almighty would answer me.”
Psalm 38:9 “Lord all my desire is before you. My sighing is not hid from you.”
Psalm 73:25 “Whom have I in heaven but You? There is none upon earth that I desire besides You.”
Desire Spiritual Gifts
I Corinthians 14:1 “…desire spiritual gifts….”
“You should want to have this love. You should want the gifts of the Holy Spirit and most of all to be able to speak God’s Word.” New Life Version
Your spiritual desires will grow as you grow in your knowledge of God’s Word, His character, His Spirit and Presence in your life.
I Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby.”
Isaiah 26:9 “At night my soul longs for You,
Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently;
For when the earth experiences Your judgments
The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.”
God knows we need Him and that we desire His presence in our lives. He also promised that as we seek Him, His Kingdom, and His presence, everything we have need of He will supply and give to us.(Matthew 6:33)

He has promised us that “the desire of the righteous shall be granted.” Proverbs 10:24.
And all your spiritual desires will be met.
Delight yourself in the Lord. Take great enjoyment in the things of the Lord.
He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)
God repeats this over and over again. The message is clear, and His Words are live giving. In Him, His presence, hope and joy are found.
