Hello everyone! Today we are looking at scriptures compiled by my father Dick Mills that direct us to trusting God.

God’s Word is filled with His presence, His power, HIs direction, HIs guidelines and help. We look to it much like a football player looks to his play book. The play book has strategic plays that are meant to help the player see what he needs to see (the other team), so that he can strategically run, pass, tackle, kick, and score. Each play is different than the first.
God’s Word is similar in that He guides us each day in each season to navigate with wisdom, strength and HIs power. We are not helpless. His power comes to us – when we trust. His comfort comes to us during loss and discouragement – as we trust.
Trust in God – Scriptures
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;”
Proverbs 3:6 “in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”
Jeremiah 17:7,8 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
Psalm 56:3 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Psalm 143:8 “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”
I John 5:14 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”
Psalm 91:1,2 “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 145:18 “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”
Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Psalm 27:13 “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

How do we know God is trustworthy?
We are promised in God’s Word that He is trustworthy. The Word, the Bible is the very words spoken from the mouth of God. Numbers 23:19 says “God is not a man that He should lie.” We know by this what He speaks, He means.

There is purpose in His Words for us. His promises are trustworthy.
Psalm 145:13 “The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.”
Getting off course
Our circumstances often cause us to get our eyes off of Him and what is happening around us. We get off course. The circumstances cause our thoughts to be skewed and troubled because of what we see rather than keeping them on the one whom we trust.
Back on course
To get back on course is simple actually. We look to God and what He says. HIs Word brings light to our darkness and confusion (Psalm 119:130)
God’s Word is our play book. We need to daily look to it till we know every play. It shows us how we should approach the field. And that is with determination, strategic plans, and knowledge of the play book. We don’t lay down on the field and give up. If we give up we can lose.
Back to the plan of getting back on course- we approach life knowing God is trustworthy. We are determined to follow Him and ‘in all our ways acknowledge Him so He can direct our paths.’ (Proverbs 3:5,6)
It is equally important to know inside and outside what God’s Word (our play book) says so that when circumstances or people say the opposite of God’s Word (like Satan did with Eve in the garden and in a moment caused her to question if God really meant what He meant) we don’t flinch, we don’t falter, we don’t doubt or question….we trust God.

Today is a great day to strategically pray and say “God I put my trust in you. Today and everyday. When I am troubled or confused, I look to you. When I need help, I look to you. Your presence, your word, and your power will be my strength, my comfort and my portion (enough for each day.)
