Good morning. At the beginning of the day, when we first wake, before all the commotion of the day begins, it is good to stop for a moment and invite God into our day. This is morning devotions. Devoting time to the Lord. Jesus Christ, Savior and Lor

Psalm 143:8, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.Pivotal Scriptures
Pivotal Scriptures
Pivotal scriptures can bring worried thoughts back to the Lord. The one who brings peace regardless of my circumstances.

I have a list of scriptures that I read, that help get my thoughts, emotions, and purpose back on track.
Mornings are my time to have devotions and fill up. But I also wake up and think of all the things that I need to solve. Problems that require solutions and impossible circumstances that demand attention. Worry can set in. I have to have a plan.
List of Scriptures
My plan is my list of scriptures. Those scriptures are like a corral that brings all my thoughts (that are like wild horses at times!) into the right place.
That plan is reading what God has to say. Then I pray those scriptures out loud, and get my heart, my mind and my spirit back on track.

I remember a couple of years ago when we lost our little granddaughter. We were so heartbroken and mornings were so hard. I would wake up and remember. Remember the loss, and sorrow would set in.
I began making a new list of scriptures that brought me comfort. Words and promises that were personal.
Each morning, I would remember, and then I would begin praying, and reading these scriptures to myself.. This was the only way I could manage the heartache. And healing came. I can’t tell you the day, but it came and God healed my heart. I remember but without the great sorrow.
God’s Word – Every Day
Read God’s Word everyday, and every day His Word will be your guiding light rather than your circumstances.
Psalm 147:3, “He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.”

Psalm 5:3, “My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.”
Isaiah 44:3, “For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground; I will pour out my spirit upon thy seed and my blessing upon thine offspring.”
Psalm 145:16, “You open your hand
and satisfy the desires of every living thing.”
Psalm 145:18,19, “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.”
Isaiah 43:13b “I will work and who can. hinder or reverse it.”
Psalm 107:20, “He sent His Word and healed them…”
Isaiah 43:19, “Behold I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth…”
Ezekiel 12:25, “For I am the Lord, I will speak and the Word I speak shall come to pass, it shall no more be prolonged.”
Psalm 138:8, “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.”
Hebrews 13:5, “For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

I find that if I read this list of scriptures I can put all those restless thoughts in a place where God is giving the direction to me, rather than my worries.
I say the scriptures out loud so that I am hearing what God says louder than what my thoughts are saying.
My morning devotions started when I was young because my parents taught me their routine. Get up, get coffee or tea, and begin reading the Bible, study aides, faith building books, and fill my spirit and soul up with what God says.
Decide Ahead of Time
If I don’t decide ahead of time what I will think on, my thoughts get easily distracted. Or my thoughts get overwhelmed by my circumstances.
My time of devotions gives God room to speak, to move, to help and to calm. However if the day doesn’t permit the time, I put on worship and praise while I am making breakfast and getting ready.
Don’t spend needless time thinking
Rather than spending needless time thinking “What am I going to do about….?” or “How am I going to solve….?” I can pray, read my list of scriptures, and get on track. Do you ever do this?

Lamentations 3:22,23,24, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
Today is a good day to get a word from the Lord. From Him to you. It all starts there. Those words are in His promises that He has spoken just for you. His compassions really will never fail you. They are new every morning.
