Internal and External Peace. This peace comes from the Lord because in the natural most of us don’t just wake up peaceful!

In an ever changing world that is spewing anxiety, fear, panic, sickness and dread, how do you experience peace? It is possible, but I believe it takes a game-plan.
The gameplan-
Seeing what the Word of God says for peace from God.
Thoughts and focus each day regarding peace and closing the door to stress.
A few thoughts and tips on planning your day to eliminate chaos, stress and anxiety.

Here are some scriptures for peace, additional ideas, and some common sense thoughts for increasing peace in your day.
Peace – Starting the Day
Judges 6:24 “So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD Is Peace.” Gideon worshiped God, and reverenced the Lord during his worship at the alter and called it peace.

I make a point when starting the day, once I wake up in the morning to pray first thing and ask the Lord to be with me, to guide my day and pray for peace in my home, inside me and in my day. He is who I worship, He is who I go to in prayer at the altar (His rightful place of honor in my heart) and I pray for peace.
I feel like the prayer is purposely filling my gas tank with the right gas so that I can get where I need to go. It helps me focus on God first. Otherwise…circumstances can come out of nowhere and derail a perfectly good day….and the opposite of peace happens.
If you are busy, or have small children, the day revolves around getting ready, getting out the door and starting to face the most important tasks first.
Internal peace is 2 part.

Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.”
It comes from God and what we keep our minds on. It is something that comes with action and presence.
The action is deliberately praying, thinking, and acknowledging God first thing in the day. This focus brings God into the day.

Proverbs 3:5,6 “”Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight.”

God is bigger than any problem and He is the solution to every challenge.
Yes there are problems in the world and that we face in our own home. There is sickness, the world is going to pieces before our eyes, yet God speaks to us to think differently-
I Peter 4:12 “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; “
He goes on to say that He has overcome the world and that you too are an overcomer because of the power and the presence of God in your life.
God is Peace
God is Peace. His name Jehovah Shalom means “The Lord is Peace.” His name has meaning for us, and it has purpose for us each day. When we bring His presence into the day, we are bring what His name means and says ‘The Lord is Peace’.

That is who we pray to. That is who is with us and is in the midst of our day, our plans, our thoughts, and our purpose.
Nahum 1:7 “The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.”
Proverbs 3:13 “Happy is the man who finds wisdom…” verse 17 “Her ways (wisdom) are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.”
Wisdom holds hands with peace.
Psalm 55:18 “He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, for there were many against me.”
Peace- Jehovah Shalom
Jehovah Shalom – Jehovah Shalom means “The Lord is Peace” or “The Lord Is Our Peace.”
Judges 6:24 “So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD Is Peace.”
Believers have God with them, He is their peace with them everywhere they go.
We think of peace as the absence of anxiety, trouble, heartache, war, trials and tribulation.

But Jehovah Shalom is the Peace of God, in us, with us and before us and around us, regardless of what the world is doing, people are saying and the circumstances we are facing.

Seek after Peace-Jehovah Shalom
Psalm 34:14 says “Seek peace and pursue it.”
Wherever peace is spoken of, God is the center of that. He is the origin of peace. HIs name is Jehovah Shalom.
Psalm 85;8 “I will hear what God the Lord will speak. For He will speak peace to His people and to His saints.”
Proverbs 3:1,2 “My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands, 2 For length of days and long life and peace they will add to you.”
Internal Peace
God provides internal peace. Internal peace is like an anchor on a ship. It is meant to hold the ship in place when in dock or during a storm. The anchor doesn’t do what it ISN’T meant to do, but rather IT DOES do what it is meant to do and that is hold steady.

An anchor holds the ship from wandering off course during a storm. The waves and storm may be enormous and create an uncontrollable external circumstance, but the anchor continues to do what it has to do. Stay connected to the ship/boat and hold it in place while the anchor holds to the bottom of the sea, or water floor.
Internal Peace is an Anchor
Internal peace which is from God who is Jehovah Shalom, anchors you during rough days, peaceful days and stormy days.
While keeping a ship or vessel steady, the anchor doesn’t lose sight (if thought were involved) of what its purpose is. That is to stay put, hold steady and keep the boat in close proximity.
God’s Word is meant to bring internal peace during an external storm. Think about that, His Word is meant to hold you steady and bring peace to you.

Peace is where God is. Jehovah Shalom – The Lord is Peace. His presence and His name all are filled with peace.
The Lord is Peace – the anchor
Hebrews 6:19 “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,”
Sure, dependable and steadfast. The anchor is for our soul.
When reading the upcoming scriptures, insert Jehovah Shalom for peace. It gives meaning and purpose to each scripture.
Isaiah 54:13 “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children.”
External Peace
Praying for peace and praying for your day comes two ways. By prayer, inviting the Lord into the day, your relationships, parenting, marriage, friendship, work relationships, professional, school, etc.
Be intentional. The second way is to create a peaceful routine for yourself to assist yourself when getting up, getting ready and going out into your day.

Pray.
Plan.
Purpose.
External peace is greatly affected by the choices we make each day.
Organizing the things you know you will need to go out the door for school, work or for the days activities is a good thing to do.
This is huge. A big peace stealer is stress. Common sense solutions to starting your day is helpful.
Get up, have devotions with coffee and tea(coffee is my favorite), exercise, get ready and go out the door. Make a routine that works for you and works for your family or the ones with you in the house.
Peace and Common Sense Solutions
Growing up with Dick Mills as my father was wonderful and also full of commotion.

He was brilliant. The Lord used him in a great way and he was anointed as a minister of the gospel. He traveled worldwide and took the good news to as many people as he possibly could in his lifetime.
But he couldn’t keep track of keys or his wallet. And this usually happened right before he was to leave for the airport, or to drive to a location to speak. It usually happened during a stressful time period.
After years of frustration my mother worked at solving this situation as best as she could.
My mother bless her heart would pay extra money each month to have extra keys made. She said what it cost her in money didn’t compare to what it cost her peace.
This is extra for today: for my home I created a basket, or bowl and the keys, wallet, name tags, etc (important stuff) went there every time. It wasn’t perfect but it made a difference where our peace was concerned.
I say this because we spent years looking for car keys, which is an enormous stress causer, and then frustration would always follow.
Isaiah 55:12 “For you shall go out with joy, And be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills Shall break forth into singing before you, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”

Jeremiah 29:11,12,13 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. “
