I remember as a young girl sitting in a restaurant with my father. We were eating cheeseburgers and happily drinking a chocolate shake.
A couple walked up to us, she was hesitant but they introduced themselves. My dad Dick Mills had ministered to them and gave them scriptures a few years back and she was telling us what had transpired since them.
Things had changed. God had moved on their behalf and it was quite a testimony. She was emotional telling us what had happened. Then she asked him if he ‘had a good word’ for them?

He put his hamburger down and said ‘yes.’
He proceeded to give them scriptures. He also told them God was going to turn their situation around and she began to get more emotional and weep. The husband was in bad shape as well.
They needed a good word from the Lord and they got one that day.
After they left I asked my father if he really had a good word for them? And I reminded him he had been eating a hamburger and drinking a milkshake!

He smiled and took his hamburger again and said “Deborah every time I say ‘I have a good word’ for someone, it comes because the Holy Spirit gives it to me. But I have to say those words, for it to come. And it does. Every time.” He smiled again and we finished our lunch. I was only about 10 but I remember that conversation very vividly.
As a young man he spent time memorizing scriptures. He grouped them into themes and topics so he could remember them better. This type of memorization if studied further is a type of study. Referred to as ‘Mnemic’ which is using a system or game plan so to speak to help one retain memory.
He found that if he remembered and memorized scriptures regarding healing, direction, relationships, salvation, speaking in tongues, heaven, and wisdom, then it assisted him greatly in knowing all those scriptures at a later day.
Then after 2 years times he said he began to know where those scriptures were. He had marked and color coded them in the Bible. This made it easier for him to find them and read them to people while he was ministering.

He also loved getting different translations and commentaries by Bible scholars to see what they said regarding those scriptures.
It did help that he had a photographic memory and could retain what he read and worked at memorizing!
Once he was familiar with the scriptures, he depended on the Lord with the guiding of the Holy Spirit to lead him towards the scriptures that would minister to the person.
Every time he gave words you could see a person face change. The scriptures, the words, the direction of him speaking to them, always caused a reaction.
Every time there would be a response of the person to the words he gave.
He later told me that people could have this same response if they dove into the Word of God with that same desperate need to hear from God.
He wasn’t the only minister or person that could bring it.
Here we are years later, with those words that God spoke to him.
A new generation that desperately needs to hear from God. Needs a good word from the Lord.
I want to encourage you that you can find them here, but you can also find them in your Bible.
Here are some wonderful words to give you a head start into hearing from God.
